Anfisa and Animals – Twisted Postcards from Russian Artists

Westerners sometimes say that Russian people have no sense of humour, but today’s post will break this theory into pieces. Of course, there is a certain difference between German, for example, and Russian humor, but still the last one turns out to be really expressive. In any case, this sense of humour is good, though it is not so sophisticated as the French one or infectious as German humor. If you are not familiar with the Russian anecdotes, funny stories or just jokes, I offer you to look at these funny postcards as the examples of Russian humor. These postcards are named “Anfisa and Animals” and tell us about the adventures of the girl. The authors of these postcards are a part of the team (Alexander Toropchin, Vitaly Ilyin, Galina Bozhock) from the creative agency BARBA. Actually, it is said that this product is created for children, but this spicy humour looks a bit complicated for kids. For example, here is the translation of a poem from one of these postcards: “Snakes see Anfisa as a real tyrant, ‘cause she is making a cardigan out of them”. I hope you will excuse me for the lack of translation (it is really hard to translate these lines using a rhyme). In any case, they are so bright, that it is enough to make you smile.
